Ceremony

Overview

The graduation ceremony will occur Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the Rosemont Theatre (5400 N. River Rd., Rosemont, IL).

The ceremony begins at 4 p.m.; however, guests must arrive by 3:45 p.m. to be seated before the start of the ceremony. Any guests arriving after 3:45 p.m. will be seated in the balcony after the processional of graduates portion of the ceremony. The ceremony is approximately two and a half hours long.

Seniors must be in the theater wearing their cap and gown no later than 3 p.m.

Seniors who have a scholar stole or National Honor Society cord should take photos before arriving. The cords and stoles will be returned to staff members as the graduate leaves the stage.

Professional graduation photos will be taken by GradImages and proofs will be sent to graduates shortly after the graduation ceremony.

Information for attendees

Everyone who attends the ceremony regardless of age will need a ticket to be admitted to the venue.

Live stream

Graduation will be live-streamed and a link will be shared with graduates before graduation.

Seating

Visitors who need special seating accommodations should arrive early at the theater because seating is first come first served.

No one will be allowed on the main floor of the theater after 3:45 p.m.

Guest arriving after 3:45 p.m. will be seated in the balcony at the conclusion of the processional at the House Manager's discretion.

Cap and Gowns

Students have already paid for their cap and gown. If students have not submitted their height and weight, please complete this as soon as possible through the Josten's website. Jostens will assess a late fee which will appear as a shipping fee on the website. Glenbrook South is not able to waive the Jostens fee. Graduates are required to wear the 2025 cap, gown, and tassel for the ceremony. Graduates should not wear an older sibling's cap & gown because the colors may not match.

Students may pick up their cap and gown in May in the Student Activities Office between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Scholar stoles and National Honor Society cords will be in the bag with the student’s cap and gown.

Graduates may donate caps and gowns to underserved schools nationwide by bringing them to Glenbrook South and placing them in the box in the front lobby by June 15, 2025. Jostens will take care of the donations.

Graduation Tickets

May 27 - 30, 2025

Graduating seniors are allotted five tickets to the ceremony and may pick them up beginning Tuesday, May 27 in the SAO. Tickets can be picked up through the conclusion of regular office hours on Friday, May 30. Please do not lose the tickets as they cannot be replaced. Graduates participating in the ceremony do not need a ticket.

Only graduating seniors who present a valid Glenbrook South ID with the student’s photo and ID number clearly visible will be allowed to pick up the tickets.

Students must clear up any personal or academic obligations before collecting tickets. Students should check in PowerSchool or with their counselor for outstanding obligations.

The SAO will not have extra tickets. Families may want to check with other graduates or on social media to find tickets.

Ceremony Attire

Graduates are required to wear the 2024 cap, gown, and tassel for the ceremony. Graduates should not wear an older sibling's cap & gown because the colors may not match.

Appropriate Dress & Conduct for Ceremony

Graduation is a special event; students should dress and behave accordingly. They should NOT use their cell phones during the ceremony, as it is disrespectful to their classmates and the speakers. When deciding on your attire for the ceremony, graduates will be standing for almost an hour and should wear appropriate footwear.

Donation

Graduates may donate caps and gowns to underserved schools nationwide by bringing them to Glenbrook South and placing them in the box in the front lobby by June 15, 2024. Jostens will take care of the donations.

Grad Night

GBS Grad Night is a parent-planned and parent-sponsored event hosted by the GBS Parents’ Association Grad Night Committee. The annual event provides a fun, supervised celebration giving graduates one last night together. Glenbrook South High School and Glenbrook High School District 225 assist the Parent’s Association with communicating about the event but do not sponsor it.

The cost to attend is $80 per student. Free/Reduced rates will be applied appropriately at the bookstore. The ticket includes transportation, food, and fun-filled activities in a secure and drug-free environment.

Tickets are available through the GBS Bookstore or online via e-school funds and must be purchased by noon on Friday, May 31, 2024.

Plan ahead! Do not wait until the last minute to purchase a ticket. A very limited number of seats will be available on the day of the event at a cost of $100. Only cash will be accepted at the Field House door.

What is GBS Grad Night?

GBS Grad Night is an overnight event at Enchanted Castle, an indoor entertainment complex in Lombard, on the night of graduation that provides a fun, supervised space for the grads to celebrate their accomplishments together as a class.

What does the ticket include?

The ticket includes transportation, food, and various fun-filled activities in a secure and drug-free environment.

How do students get to and from the venue?

Students will be transported via bus from GBS to Enchanted Castle and must arrive by 9:30 p.m. at the GBS Fieldhouse. Those who miss the bus will not be allowed to participate. Students may not drive themselves or be dropped off by a parent/guardian at the venue. Attendees attempting to access the venue without arriving via the bus will be turned away. Students will return to GBS by bus after the event between 3:30-4 a.m.

How can families get involved and support the event?

The Grad Night Committee raises money for the event to keep ticket costs as low as possible. Families can contribute monetarily by participating in fundraising efforts or donating prizes for the event.

The School Counseling program at Glenbrook South is designed to help students learn about themselves, identify their interests, investigate the world of work and take direct action to build lifelong competencies while in high school. High school students are faced with the prospect of numerous and diverse choices in post-secondary planning. In any decision-making process, gathering information is the key step. To achieve these objectives, students and parents are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities and programs throughout a student's four years of high school.

The Glenbrook South Nurses' Office is available to all students during school hours. Led by a Certified School Nurse, the nursing team provides a significant amount of services to students and families.

Glenbrook School Health Center (GSHC)

The purpose of a school health center is to provide students and staff members with access to quality medical care that supports their health and keeps them in school. The Glenbrook School Health Center (GSHC) is designed to complement the services offered by the school nurse for students who may need more complex care.

Medical records remain confidential between the patient, family and our operating partner. Parents may authorize information to be shared with the school by completing a separate consent form available from the GSHC staff.

Glenbrook High School District 225 offers a variety of food options for our students and staff throughout the day. Learn how to manage student accounts and different meal options and cafeteria expectations.

How to set up/refill account

MySchoolBucks is the payment software system where families can view balances, set up automatics replenishments and receive notifications. These steps allow students the ability to get through the food line quickly.

Visit MySchoolBucks website or download the MySchoolBucks App.
Click "Log In" on the homepage and select "Sign Up Now Today"
Enter your state and district, then follow the steps to create your account
If you already have an account, follow the first step and log in.
Once logged in:
- Select your name at the top of the homepage and select "My Billing Accounts" from the drop down menu.
- Click "Add Account" to add funds or choose "Edit" to edit payment information
- From the homepage, select your name, "My Students" and edit next to the student's name to
  - add a low balance alert so you never miss a payment.

ACH and credit card payments will be charged a processing fee of 3.62%

Quest urges you to take full advantage of making deposits into your student's accounts on a weekly, monthly, or annual basis.
Choose any amount to deposit.
Any money that is not spent by the end of the school year will be available the following school year.
Students may also bring cash or a check and the cashier will add it to their account

How to view cafeteria menu

Quest Food Services posts a monthly menu for each school.

Visit the Quest Meal Planner website
Type in the name of the school
Select either "breakfast" or "lunch" option
View the meal calendar for the current month

Items in the cafeteria are marked based on the top nine food allergens. The icons guide students, staff and visitors when making safe nutritional choices.

Cafeteria Expectations

According to section 6.50 in the Parent and Student Handbook:

It is the responsibility of every student to return trays to the proper location and deposit all waste in the trash receptacles.
Students may not take food or drink out of the cafeteria.
Students shall follow the instructions of the cafeteria aides and other staff and show proper respect toward all cafeteria personnel.
Students shall report spills and broken containers to cafeteria staff immediately;
Any student referred to the Office of the Dean of Students for throwing food, littering or misconduct will be subject to disciplinary action.

Quest Choice Meal

In partnership with Quest Food Services, Glenbrook High School District 225 offers an affordable meal option to all students and staff. The “Quest Choice Meal” is offered during breakfast and lunch. Please look for the clearly marked logo on items.

Transportation Services

Glenbrook High School District 225 contracts with Safeway Transportation Services to provide safe, reliable bus transportation to students who purchase an annual bus pass.

Students are required to present a physical bus pass to the bus driver upon boarding the bus (a digital student ID will not work for this purpose). Bus passes will be issued to students after the first Friday of August. Students purchasing a bus pass after they have been distributed, can obtain one from the bookstore.
