The Glenbrook South High School Dean's Office is committed to ensuring a safe learning environment for students and staff. The office oversees issues related to student behavior, and encourages all students to pursue their education. In conjunction with the goals of the building, we are committed to being a resource for all students, parents and staff.

Student Parking

The parking permit application for the 2026-27 school year is open from March 30, 2026, and will close at 3:15 p.m. on May 1, 2026. Students who park in school lots must adhere to the rules and regulations as outlined in the Board of Education Policy 4:171 Traffic and Parking Controls Plan. Failure to do so may result in the suspension or loss of parking privileges.

Juniors and seniors are eligible to apply for a permit at a cost of $375. The number of permits is limited, and submitting an application does not guarantee a permit.

To ensure families have the correct information about the application process and permit distribution for the 2026-27 school year, we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions.

Are students who apply for a parking permit guaranteed a spot?

Completing a parking permit application does not guarantee that a student will receive a parking permit.

All seniors who complete the parking permit application by Friday, May 1, 2026, at 3:15 p.m., will be assigned a parking permit.

Families of seniors who do not complete the parking permit application by Friday, May 1, 2026, at 3:15 p.m. will be placed on a waitlist. If placed on a senior waitlist, typically no more than 5 students become eligible to receive a parking permit.

The names of all juniors who complete the parking permit application by Friday, May 1, 2026, at 3:15 p.m. will be placed in a lottery for the remaining parking permits. Due to the limited number of parking spaces, not all junior applicants will receive a parking permit.

When are families notified about parking permits?

By Monday, May 11, 2026, at the end of the business day, the safety and security offices will email senior students and their parents/guardians if they have been approved to receive a parking permit.

By Friday, May 22, 2026, at the end of the business day, the safety and security offices will email juniors and their parents/guardians if they have been approved to receive a parking permit.

Students who do not receive a permit will need to plan accordingly, as there is no waitlist for juniors.

How are parking permits distributed?

If a student is awarded a parking permit, the permit will be distributed during student material pick-up from August 3, 2026, to August 7, 2026, between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Both schools will utilize parking stickers that must be installed on the passenger-side windshield. Parking permits are non-transferable. A student who requires a replacement must visit the Dean's Office. If approved, the student will be assessed a $35 replacement fee, which can be paid online or at the bookstore before receiving the replacement.

All student fees must be paid in full before a student receives a parking permit.

Parking permits are not transferable.

Can I purchase a Ventra card for my son or daughter directly through GBS?

As of right now, GBS does not buy Ventra cards to sell directly to students; however follow the link under resources on this page to access the appropriate order form to use. At the end of the form please fill in CARD WILL BE SHIPPED TO, with the following information.
