Summer Reading Program
Glenbrook South High School's summer reading is a completely voluntary program that allows students to spend the summer reading a book of personal interest. Our summer reading book list is a mix of genres and styles—there's something for everyone! The program runs the entire summer and concludes in the fall, where participants come together to discuss their selection with students and staff in a fun, informal atmosphere.
All participants will receive a free copy of their selected book mailed to their homes. If a student is interested in an ebook version, check out the GBS Library Catalog to access the book on your device—we may even have an audio version.
Upon completing the program, students will complete a one-time discussion led by various GBS faculty and senior leaders. We also encourage students to record their participation in SchooLinks for school counselors to include participation in recommendation letters.
Students can also participate in the Glenview Public Library's (GPL) Summer Reading Program. A student's GBS Summer Reading Program book can be applied to the GPL program. Double dip and have a chance at some great prizes! Additional information on this summer reading program can be found on the Glenview Public Library website.
