GBS Broadcasting Students Win National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Awards
Congratulations to five Glenbrook South alumni on being named National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences winners for their work while in the broadcasting program.
2022 graduates Omar Shoreibah, Michael Cunningham, Noah Collins, Josh Pratt and Tommy Casey won a National Student Production Award for their short form - fiction film Free Time. The film is about teenagers finding a time machine and how they spend the day exploring different generations. Over 20 advanced TV and film students from the class of 2022, 2023 and 2024 helped produce the film.
Additionally, Shoreibah won an NSPA for his editing skills. You can watch the montage of videos that were judged here.
The NATAS recognizes students from across the country who exhibit excellence in television for news, documentary, sports and daytime television programming. This year over 120 schools were represented in the national competition.
GBS has only won one other time since the national competition started back in 2015. GBS alumnus Andrew Kurland won in the ‘talent’ category back in 2019.
Recipients were announced in a virtual ceremony on November 17, 2022.

Four editors from "The Oracle" were recognized for their work at the Journalism Education Association (JEA) national convention in St. Louis, MO, in November 2023.
