New Traffic Pattern at GBS

We are excited to offer our families a new way to access the Glenbrook South High School parking lot to make managing student drop-off and pick-up a little easier. In this video, I will go over what you need to know about the new traffic pattern around GBS.

If you’re coming in from the east, enter campus, turn right and proceed past the main entrance all the way to door D, where students can be dropped off.

After completing the drop-off, drivers now have two options to exit campus. Drivers who want to head westbound on East Lake Avenue should proceed through the Glenbrook Administrative Center parking lot and make a right turn onto East Lake Avenue. For drivers heading eastbound, turn left onto West Lake Avenue and proceed to the traffic light where you may stay straight or turn north or south onto Pfingsten Road.

We encourage families to also use other school entrances for drop-off and pick-up of students. Students may enter or exit the North side of campus through door OO and the West side from door O.

Even though these improvements have been made to our main entrance parking lot, traffic will continue to be heavy, so please be patient, be aware of student pedestrians and be courteous to other drivers.

GBS’ peak drop-off moment is between 7:45 and 8:10 a.m., so we strongly encourage students to be dropped off before 7:30 a.m.

Another ongoing issue we are excited to address soon is the synchronization of traffic lights at the intersections of Pfinsgton Road and West Lake Avenue, East Lake Avene and Pfingston Road, and East Lake Avenue and Robin Lane. By early November, the resynchronization will be complete and alleviate some congestion in the area around GBS.

Lastly, we’ve improved the student parking lot off of Robin Drive. Drivers now have two lanes in and two lanes out of campus. But we need your help, students! Please pay attention to the directions of security staff members and be courteous to your fellow drivers to ensure we will all be able to navigate our campus safely.
