Dave Schoenwetter
Glenbrook South High School has been the setting for much of Coach Dave Schoenwetter’s athletic experience. As a GBS student, he was a three-sport athlete and a member of the 1993 CSL South conference championship team. Schoenwetter returned to GBS in the fall of 2001 to teach history and serve as an assistant football coach. In this role, he was a part of ten playoff qualifying teams and one IHSA Quarterfinal appearance in 2009. Coach Schoenwetter was named Glenbrook South Head Football Coach in 2016. Under his leadership in his first five years as head coach, two GBS teams have qualified for the IHSA playoffs, including a Quarterfinals appearance in 2021. In his non-GBS years Schoenwetter played football at Knox College, where he was a three-year starter at quarterback for the Prairie Fire. Following graduation, he served as Offensive Coordinator for the Knox program and in 2009 was inducted into the Knox College Athletic Hall of Fame.
