Information
FOOTBALL REGISTRATION: All players must be registered for football in power school to start the football season. Please note that tryout registration will not be available on PowerSchool until sometime in July/August
The registration process can be completed in three easy steps:
- Log in to PowerSchool Parent Portal — a student’s guardian must complete this process
- Click “Sport Survey” from the left menu
- Select "Football" and click submit
If you experience any problems with completing the registration process through your PowerSchool Parent Portal, please contact the Glenbrook Help Desk at helpdesk@glenbrook225.org.
NO CUT SPORT
Football is a no cut sport and we encourage all to participate. In particular, football is a great option for all freshmen to try.
UPDATED PHYSICAL FORM
All athletes need an updated physical form (no older than 13 months) in order to be able to participate at the start of the season on August 5th. A digital or paper copy of the updated physical can be turned in to Mrs. Stacy Ollmert (sollmert@glenbrook225.org) in the Athletic Department Office (located next to the Field House). No exceptions can be made in order to participate without a valid physical. Please turn your physical form in to Ms. Ollmert in Athletics and not to the Nurse’s Office.
GLENBROOK SCHOOL HEALTH CENTER
Students can also have physical examinations completed at the Health Center located inside Glenbrook South HS for free! This is especially helpful if the player isn't able to have a physical completed by the primary physician or a local medical center in time for the first day of tryouts.
Students/Parents can make appointments through this link.
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
Students who would like to participate in GBS Football will be provided with helmets, shoulder pads, all lower body pads, practice jerseys/pants, and game uniforms. **Players MAY NOT use any other equipment that was not issued by the Glenbrook South. Below are the items that players must supply on their own:
- Mouth Guard (this must be molded and must be work in practice)
- Cleats
- Gym shoes for all indoor practices
- Shorts, t-shirts, etc
When players are issued equipment/practice uniforms/game uniforms/etc, the student/family becomes financially responsible for all of these items. Players are solely responsible for locking all of their equipment and should never store their uniforms at school. Uniforms should be kept at home until needed. All of these items are expensive!
- For example: Helmets cost $600+ to replace. Shoulder pads are usually $350+ to replace. Game jerseys are $125+. Students should never leave anything unlocked in the locker room or laying around the building.
Attendance
Football is a Monday - Saturday commitment. We practice on days off of school. We always excuse players for religious holidays. We expect players to plan around all practices and games. If a player has a fever, they should stay home. Otherwise they should attend all practices and games.
