Congratulations to the Marching Titans on their performance at the Sandwich Music Fest.  The band placed 2nd out of 8 bands in their class, and 5th out of 16 bands overall.

 

Congratulations to the GBS Model U.N. team on winning Best Large Delegation at the Waubonsie Valley conference. Best delegates were Daniel Park, Angelo Karadimas, Mia Carr, and Hannah Sawyer. Please note: this week’s morning meeting will be on Tuesday. 

 

Tickets for this year’s Fall Play, Shakespeare in Love, are on sale now! Get yours in the SAO today. Tickets are $5 and students with an Activity Pass can get one free ticket. Performances run today, through tomorrow, Saturday, October 23.  See the GBS Theatre website for more information.

 

Attention Juniors and Seniors- The TLC is looking for students interested in tutoring second semester.  Applications are available on the TLC website and are due next Wednesday, October 27th.

 

Seniors!  If you have college due dates of November 1, you MUST submit your transcript request forms AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Requests were due October 8, but can still be submitted. Please see your counselor with any questions.

AP Students, the registration deadline is a week away.  Log into your AP account today to verify your AP exam registration.  You must indicate either “Yes” or “No” for each of your AP exams. The deadline to register is Monday, November 1. Contact your AP teacher or Ms. Redfern with any questions.

 

Hey South! Key Club is holding a “Summer Santa Toy Drive” now through December. We are looking for any used toys or art supplies to be donated. Please place the supplies in the labeled box by the front desk. Check out the Key Club Instagram for more details and guidelines on what can be donated!

 

The Titan Balloon Store is now open for limited hours in the West Cafeteria. You can also scan the QR code on the door for more information from the Balloon Store website.

 

The Titan Learning Center is open and ready to help you!  We offer free tutoring in all content areas and for all levels! We are located just inside the Library and are available from 7:15am to 4:30pm (4:00pm on Fridays).  We can’t wait to help you with your study needs!

 

Yearbooks are here!  If you ordered a book last year and haven’t picked it up yet, please stop by the SAO to pick it up.

 

Remember to listen to your GBS radio station, WGBK 88.5 FM every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday to hear the best of music, news, and GBS sports.

 

Hey South! The marching band practices in the West Lot on Mondays and Thursdays after school.  If you park in the West Lot, be sure to move your car before you head to practices or activities after school on Mondays or Thursdays!

Join Bags Club! We meet Thursdays after school. Join us for conversation and to toss some bags! Contact Mr. Rhoades with any questions.

BOWLING CLUB
Fall Bowling Club continues on 10/26.  Permission Slips and info are available in the SAO or under Intramurals on the GBS Activities webpage. Cost is $8.00 per week for 2 games with shoes. Transportation is provided.

BPA
Do you have business sense?  Join BPA and compete your way to Nationals! Meetings are every Thursday after school in Room 1146. Don’t miss this opportunity.  Join now!

CALLIOPE
Calliope is open for submissions for “SWEET TOOTH”!  Anyone can submit photos, visual art, prose, poetry and video - you don’t need to be a member of Calliope and you may submit more than one piece.  We can’t wait to see your creativity South!  

CHEM CLUB
Join Chem Club next Monday October 25 after school to explore the science of Halloween candy! We meet in Room 1364 after school.

CREATIVE WRITING CLUB
Are you interested in improving your creative writing? Do you have a story to tell? Creative Writing club meets after school on Thursdays in Room 2151. All writers welcome!

DESI CLUB
Desi Club is hosting the first GBS Garba Dance tomorrow, Saturday, October 23 at 7:00pm in the Dome. $5 admission-Come join us for food and fun!

FENCING
Want to be a part of a fun sports club team?  The Glenbrook Fencing Team is looking for a team manager! You get to help organize events! The team and coaches need you!  Email gbsfencingteam@glenbrook225.org for more information.

HISTORY CLUB
Are you interested in enhancing your historical knowledge through fun and interesting presentations? Join History Club after school every Thursday in Room 2142.  Email Ms. Lupfer with any questions.

INTERACT
Juniors and Seniors, come to Interact’s meeting next Wednesday, October 27 in the Freshman Cafeteria to hear about new upcoming events. If you are signed up for any other events during the next few weeks make sure to turn in your forms. Contact Mr. Gallagher with any questions!

JAPANESE CLUB

JOURNALING CLUB
Journaling Club meets on Thursdays at 3:30 in Room 2155. Contact Ms. Flickinger with any questions.

KEY CLUB
Hey Key Club members! Make sure to get your $20 to the bookstore this week and then show up to our meeting next Tuesday, October 26 to grab your t-shirt if you already haven’t done so!  See you then.

KNITTING CLUB
Knitting Club meets Mondays after school in the Student Services Office. We have supplies for you to knit or crochet, and are happy to teach you how.

MODEL UNITED NATIONS
Model UN meets in the back of the Library classroom Tuesdays at 3:15pm and Wednesday mornings at 7:15am. Come to discuss world events, practice public speaking, and make new friends! Contact Mr. Sisler for more info.

MY SMILE WITHIN
If you want to help women who are overcoming their trauma obtain needed dental care, come to My Smile Within Club in Room 2135 at 3:30pm every other Wednesday after school.  Our next meeting will be Wednesday, November 3.

OUTDOORS CLUB

PADDLE CLUB
Want to play paddle tennis? Join Paddle Club! We will practice Tuesdays after school at the Valley Lo Club and compete against other high schools across the North Shore. Email Ms. Andrews for details.

SAFE CLUB
Hey South!  Come to SAFE Club, a club that aims to promote body positivity and general mental wellness every Thursday at 3:30pm in Room 1357.  See you there!

UNICEF
Halloween Trick or Treat for UNICEF boxes is coming. All funds collected will help provide funds for global COVID-19 diagnostic tests, vaccines and therapeutic medicine for those in need. Please support this cause and donate your change!




 

SPORTS

Come support your Varsity Titan Football team as they take on Evanston tonight, Friday, October 22 at 7:30pm @ Evanston!  

 

Come out and support your Girls Varsity Volleyball team @ GBN next Tuesday, October 26 at 6:30pm against Palatine! 

 

Anyone interested in trying out for Girls Basketball should attend a meeting next Wednesday, October 27 at 3:30pm on the Fieldhouse middle court.  The meeting will last approximately 15 minutes and Open Gym will follow, so come ready to play!  Tryouts begin on Monday, November 1 after school for all levels.  See Coach Nemecek with any questions.

 

Tryouts for the Boys Basketball teams will be Monday, November 8. Anyone that is interested in trying out must attend a meeting after school next Thursday, October 28 in the Fieldhouse. Your parents must register you on Powerschool, you must have an up-to-date physical on file with the Athletic Office and you need to have either your vaccination card or take a Covid-19 test the week before tryouts.
