ANNOUNCEMENTS

Attention Seniors-GBS 2019 Scholarship applications are now open. Check out the GBS Scholarship webpage for a description of the scholarships, then log into your Naviance account to apply. It's that easy! Scholarships will be given out at the Honors and Awards Ceremony on May 23rd. Don't delay! Last day to apply is TOMORROW, Wednesday, April 24th. Stop by the SAO or College and Career Center for more information.

 

Seniors- Graduation may be less than two months away, but there are still many things you need to do before you become a Titan Alum!  Be sure to check the Graduation and Senior Info page on the GBS website.  There you will find information regarding cap and gown, graduation, senior obligations, grad nite, and more.

 

Attention Seniors!  Do you want you and your friends to be featured in the Senior Memories video shown at the Honors & Awards Ceremony?  If so, send your videos and photos from all 4 years of high school to 206162@glenbrook225.org.  Videos are preferred.  All submissions are due by THIS Friday, April 26th.  Check your email for more information!

 

Come have the time of your life at this year’s Glenbrook Musical, Mamma Mia!   All of ABBA’s greatest hits, including  "Dancing Queen," "S.O.S.," "Super Trouper," and "Take A Chance on Me," are woven into a sunny tale of love, laughter, family, and friendship, all set on a Greek island.  Come see for yourself how in the end, "The Winner Takes It All!"   Performances will be held NEXT WEEK at GBS from Wednesday, May 1st through Saturday, May 4th at 7:00pm in the Watson Auditorium.  Tickets are $15 (reserved seating) and can be purchased in the SAO or at Showtix4u.com.  

 

Hungry for Chipotle?!  Stop by the Chipotle on Willow (by Steak N Shake)TODAY, Tuesday, April 23rd, from 5-9 for a fundraiser to support GBS Titan Boys Gymnastics.  Mention our team and we will receive a portion of the proceeds.  

 

Thank you to the nearly 900 students who completed AP bubbling last week. If you were one of the students who could not attend, there will be a makeup session TOMORROW, Wednesday, April 24th. Stop by the Lyceum Wednesday between 8am and 10am, (before the late arrival), or after school until 3:45. Please contact Mrs Redfern with any questions.

 

AP Government Test takers -  Reminder:  We will be having a review session on key Supreme Court cases TODAY, Tuesday, April 23rd, at 7:15 am or TOMORROW, Wednesday, April 24th, after school in the Emerald City.

 

The AP Art Show opens TODAY, Tuesday, April 23rd, in the SAC! Come on down to check out this year’s outstanding show! 

 

The second biannual Chicagoland Service Summit is coming to GBS THIS Saturday, April 27th! If you are interested in attending and becoming a service leader in your future, please stop by the SAO or ask any Key Club board member for more details!  

 

Do you like to uncover how the world works?  Would you get excited about working on your own independent science research under the mentorship of one of our very own GBS faculty?  This is what Science Independent Research Study (SIRS) is all about.  Want to be a part of SIRS for the 2019-20 school year and even earn credit as you do?  Share your interest by visiting tinyurl.com/scienceopportunities or stop by the science office between now and May 15th.

 

Want to help the new Glenview Junior Optimist Club, a new community service club made up of students from GBS and Loyola, raise money for under-resourced teens at our schools? Then come to our fun dodgeball tournament NEXT Saturday, May 4th at the Athletico Center from 12-3 PM! Teams are co-ed, can have up to 6 players, and there are prizes to be won! Key Club is working with Girl Scout Troop #40814 to collect used soccer equipment. The items will be donated to teams that do not have enough money to buy their own. Please consider donating gently used or new cleats, equipment bags, jerseys, shorts, soccer socks, or anything else soccer-related you may have. There are three boxes located around the school-  in the SAO, the Athletic Trainer’s Office, and the PE Office.  Thank you for helping to provide soccer equipment to those in need.

 

Jamnesty was a night that had such an important impact on so many lives. People had the opportunity to discuss important issues and share their perspectives and feel united by a common goal of peace and human rights. Thank you to all of our performers, Mr. Wojcik, Mr. Winship and sound crew, Ms. Schullo and Desi club, Principal Fagel, and maintenance for making the night what is truly was. Your hard work is greatly appreciated by STAND for Peace and Amnesty International.

 

Do you want to build up your skills in taking the ACT or SAT? GBS is offering Spring Brush Up classes for both ACT and SAT Prep. ACT Prep is May 13th-16th after school from 3:45 - 5:45. SAT Prep is May 20th-22nd after school from 3:45 - 5:45. Sign up at the bookstore!

 

Hey South!  Hopefully the super cold days are behind us!  However, we still have LOTS of lost and found coats in the SAO.  If sometime during the Arctic chill you lost a North Face, Patagonia, Michael Kors, Columbia, etc., come check in the SAO.  

 

SPORTS

 

Congratulations to our three Track & Field runners who competed at the Palatine Distance Night last Saturday.  Freshman Brian Hiltebrand broke the freshman record in the Mile with a time of 4:34.  Junior Will Houser ran a top 5 time in GBS history in the Half Mile (1:57), and Junior Will Kelly ran a top 5 time in GBS history in the Two Mile with a 9:34.  

 

Are you interested in joining Cheerleading? An informational meeting will be held TODAY, Tuesday, April 23rd at 3:30pm in the Lyceum. For more information, please see Ms. Middleton in Student Services or check out the GBS Athletics website.

 

Good luck to the GBS Titan Girls Soccer, as they take on Evanston!  Conference game is TONIGHT, Tuesday, April 23rd, at 7pm, at Evanston!  Come out and support the girls!

ANIME CLUB

Anime Club! If you want to join the club for the "A-SEN" Convention on Saturday, May 18th you need to buy your ticket in the bookstore by TOMORROW, Wednesday, April 24th. The Saturday pass is only $35.00. Hope to see you there!

Spring Bowling is TODAY, Tuesday, April 23rd, after school. Please meet in the Autos Courtyard by 3:30.  Bus leaves at 3:40.

Attention Interactors! If you are running low on points and want to attend our end of the year banquet, make sure to attend the Bernie's Book Drive Packing THIS Saturday, April 27th! This event is a fun and easy way to earn points if you are on the cusp of the total of 30 for the year. Sign up on the website if interested!
