Understanding the #MeToo Movement: How to Talk with Teens about Sexual Harassment and Abuse
The Glenbrook South Parents Association winter parent education event took place on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. Parents learned more about the issues of sexual harassment and abuse, and how to talk to their children about them. Glenview Detective Jamie Medina defined the terms harassment and assault, and discussed the legal implications of each. Lizzy Appleby, Youth Program Manager at Glenview Youth Services, discussed the social and emotional implications, and how to inform and support children. Click here to see her presentation

Vaping and E-cigs: Do You Know the Real Truth?
On Friday, March 9, 2018, Glenview Northbrook Coalition for Youth (GNCY) hosted a presentation, "Vaping and E-cigs: Do You Know the Real Truth?" Presenters included Erin Tegge, Prevention Program Coordinator, PEER Services; Ruben Medina, Glenview Police Officer/GBS School Resource Officer; Dr. Bhaven Shah, Pulmonologist; Ron Bean, GBS Assistant Principal, Deans' Office; Dr. Lara Cummings, GBS Assistant Principal, Student Services; and Eric Etherton, GBN Assistant Principal, Student Services. The Sophomore Parent Coffee took place Thursday, February 1, 2018. Glenbrook South counselors met with sophomore parents/guardians to discuss sophomore year topics including registration, academic resources, and the sophomore guidance curriculum.

The Glenbrook South Parents Association fall parent education event took place Wednesday, October 18, 2017. The featured speaker was Dr. Renee Dominguez, Executive Director of Family Service Center, a not-for-profit mental health agency serving the communities of Wilmette, Glenview, Northbrook, and Kenilworth. Following Dr. Dominguez’s presentation, a panel of Student Services faculty from Glenbrook South High School joined her to answer questions from the audience. The purpose of the evening was to provide parents with strategies to maintain a healthy, balanced perspective as they encourage academic success for their children.

Freshman Parent Coffee
The Freshman Parent Coffee took place Friday, September 22, 2017. Glenbrook South guidance counselors met with freshman parents/guardians to discuss freshman year topics such as report cards, transcripts, grade point average, academic resources, guidance curriculum, 4-year planning and testing.
