7-8:30 pm, GBS Lyceum 
Join us for a screening of the film Angst, followed by a Q & A with a GBS Student Services panel. Angst is a 56-minute documentary that explores anxiety and what can be done about it. It features candid interviews with children, young adults, and parents, as well as discussions with mental health experts about the causes of anxiety, its sociological effects, and resources and tools available to help.

October 23 - VAPES & JUUL

GNCY is offering an informative presentation on vaping -- smoking electronic cigarettes -- and using the devices to smoke marijuana via juuls, the pods that hold the product. Come to either session and learn more about this alarming trend.

PARENT ORGANIZATIONS

GBS invites parents to become more involved by joining one or more of the following parent groups.
Why? Learn more about Glenbrook South, meet other parents, and give important feedback and input for decision-making.


Glenbrook South Parents Association
Glenbrook South Parents Association seeks membership from the entire GBS parent community. The purpose of the organization is to serve as an educational and informational liaison between the school administration and parents. The Executive Council consists of four officers and eight committee chairs who all serve a 1-year team. The Parents Association hosts eight general meetings and three parent education events each year; it also supports scholarships, hosts a staff appreciation luncheon, volunteers at Titans Helping Titans events, and provides other supports to students and staff at GBS. Membership is $20 and includes a subscription to the student newspaper, the Oracle.

Titan Booster Club
Titan Booster Club is the parent support group for interscholastic sports. During the year the Booster Club engages in a variety of fundraising activities and purchases athletic equipment for the school. The organization is run by an executive board. Membership starts at $35.

GBSIL (Glenbrook South Instrumental League)
GBSIL (Glenbrook South Instrumental League) is a support group for all GBS bands. During the year the members assist band members in fundraising activities and provide chaperones and support for band competitions. All parents of students involved in the band program along with the band directors are members of this group.

GSO Parent Board
GSO Parent Board is the support group for the Glenbrook Symphony Orchestra. During the year it sponsors fund raisers, serves as chaperones and lends its support to all orchestra activities.

Glenbrook South Debate Society Parent League is the support group for GBS debaters. It sponsors fund-raising events and, when debate tournaments are held at GBS, parents help out by providing food and organizational skills.

Glenbrook Special Education Parent & Staff Association consists of parents with children in special education. The purpose of the group is to identify issues and common concerns of special education students and work with the special education staff and administration on those issues.
