After months of hard work and practice, Glenbrook South’s annual dance show will shine a light on dancers of all styles and experience levels.
The all-inclusive dance show, “Shine,” is hosted by Orchesis. What is different about this dance group is that auditions are not needed, because everyone can join.
“The main goal of our dance group is to give an opportunity to anybody to dance,” club sponsor Andrea Cain said. “A lot of the girls have been dancing their entire life and some haven’t taken a dance class ever… It gives that opportunity to anybody who didn’t have the opportunity to perform otherwise.”
In addition, Orchesis focuses on many different styles of dance that are choreographed by members of the group. These styles include Bollywood, jazz, ballet, hip-hop and more.
Stephanie Ornduff is a junior captain who choreographed the opener of the show along with three other captains.
“When everyone comes together doing the same choreography and the same number it is just incredible to see what they learn from one another,” Ornduff said.
“Shine” is performed by Orchesis and also features De La Cru, De La Cru Club, Bhangra Beatz, Titan Poms and Latino Heat at 7:30 pm, December 8th in the auditorium.
Tickets are on sale for $5 in the Student Activities Office in advance, or at the door the night of the event.
