There is never a shortage of talent or inspiration at the Glenbrook South Business Department’s Women in Business Breakfast. This year 19 female business leaders generously donated their time to speak with more than 100 students.
The Dec. 3 event bridged leaders of today with leaders of tomorrow during a networking breakfast and panel discussion. This year’s panelists included GBS alumna Corinne Cantwell Heggie, equity partner at Wochner Law Firm LLC in Northbrook; Dana Hall, partner at Ernst and Young; Karen Schwartz of Dreamtown Realty; Rachel Canning, co-founder of RL Canning; and Veronica Couzo-Kamenjarian, labor and employment counsel at IDEX Corporation.
Other GBS alums present at the event included Kilby Macfadden of the Department of Justice, Rula Marziana of IDEX Corporation, Amani Solesky of Thryv, and Rana Strellis of Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
The women encouraged students to continue to get involved in a variety of classes and activities in high school, and to carry that optimistic mindset into college and beyond.
“You work hard. You show up. You give your best effort,” Heggie said. “I think women who are successful also look behind them and lift other women up.”
