Glenbrook South’s class of 2017 reported 96 percent of graduates pursuing higher education this fall at 156 different campuses.
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Oakton Community College remain the top college choices selected by Glenbrook South students.
Some of the other top selected colleges or universities include University of Illinois at Chicago, Indiana University, DePaul University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Illinois State University, University of Missouri, University of Iowa, Loyola University and Marquette University. Each graduate applied to an average of 5.5 institutions.
Of the 96 percent of the 2017 graduates attending college, 76 percent are staying in the Midwest – 49 percent of them in Illinois. Five graduates are attending institutions overseas in the Netherlands, Philippines, Spain, South Korea and England.
Twenty-six Glenbrook South graduates reported they are participating in college athletics, with eight of them recruited to play a Division I sport.
In addition, several state they are taking alternative paths to continuing their education. Five graduates are taking a gap year, five have secured jobs, two have entered the military, two are pursuing career education and one is pursuing a music career.
