Glenbrook South’s class of 2018 reported 97 percent of graduates pursuing higher education this fall at 177 different campuses.
Oakton Community College and the University of Illinois remain the top college choices selected by Glenbrook South students.
Some of the other top selected colleges or universities include DePaul University, Marquette University, Indiana University, Loyola University, University of Illinois-Chicago, University of Missouri, University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Dayton and Illinois State University. Each graduate applied to an average of 6.2 institutions.
Of the 97 percent of the 2018 graduates attending college, 78 percent are staying in the Midwest – 50 percent of them in Illinois. Four graduates are attending institutions overseas in Australia, Poland, the Philippines and Canada.
In addition, several stated they are taking alternative paths to continuing their education. Five graduates have entered the military, four reported they will work, seven are taking a gap year and two are pursuing career education.
Twenty-three Glenbrook South graduates reported they are participating in college athletics, with nine of them recruited to play a Division I sport.
